Reiki is a Japanese word which translates to "Universal Life Force Energy." It originated in Japan with Dr. Mikao Usui in the late 1800s.
Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-invasive healing technique. It complents any medical treatment by stimulating the body's own natural healing process. Reiki carries no side effects, reduces stress, and promotes deep relaxation.
Reiki is performed by a practitioner using a series of hand positions placed on or close to the body. Reiki is commonly given while the patient is fully clothed and lying comforably on a massage table. Since it is so adaptable, Reiki can also be given in any setting, in a chair, or hospital bed.
